Nighttime vs. Daytime Skincare Routine

Nighttime vs. Daytime Skincare Routine

Why You Need Different Skincare Routines for Day and Night

The first step in building an effective skincare regimen is to know the difference between daytime skincare and nighttime skincare. Getting your skin ready before you go to bed compared to getting it ready for your day are two very different things. That doesn’t mean your skincare routine needs to be complicated. Instead, it simply means understanding how each routine benefits your best complexion!

The role of daytime skincare

Your daytime skincare should consist of products that revolve around two core goals: hydration and protection. Throughout the day, your skin is exposed to many impurities, including pollutants, bacteria, makeup, sweat from a workout or a hot day, UV rays, oil, dirt, and more.

Cleansing and moisturizing properly will help protect your skin from external impurities and remove buildup from when you were sleeping the night before. For example, when you wake up in the morning, germs and bacteria from your pillowcase are on your face. These germs can be from anything, including your saliva, hair, eyes, pets that sleep with you, or a partner sleeping next to you. Cleansing in the morning removes these impurities and ensures they do not build up on your skin. Proper cleansing keeps your skin cells healthy and diminishes wear on collagen, the “scaffolding” of your skin.

Moisturizing is also essential. This action hydrates your skin and locks in hydration and nutrients that stimulate collagen production. Plus, when you use a moisturizer such as T-Zone and Cheeks, nutrients such as dandelion and turmeric extracts help keep the pores clear and control oil production. In addition, algae, sea kelp, watermelon and apple extracts help reduce UV damage throughout the day.

The role of nighttime skincare

Your nighttime skincare routine can be similar to your morning routine, but it plays a different role. While you are sleeping, your entire body is hard at work restoring different systems, organs, and functions. In addition, your skin repairs itself. The right skincare supports this process to improve skin health; however, you need to give your skin the right tools to make this happen! Nighttime skincare should be hydrating and restorative. This process starts with cleansing.

Cleansing at night removes impurities encountered throughout the day. All night long, your skin will work to restore itself and heal from UV exposure, pollution, and other impurities that build up as you go about your day. Your skin needs to be clean for this to occur successfully.

The next step of your nighttime routine should be to incorporate a product that works to encourage cell turnover, such as a serum. The Navinka Nightly Calibrator is a gentle exfoliating serum that works on your skin while you sleep.

The Nightly Calibrator is a potent blend of alpha and beta hydroxy acids that help even out skin texture by gently dissolving the daily build-up of dead skin cells and pollutants. One of its most powerful nutrients is elderberry extract, which protects the skin from premature aging by fighting free radicals and delivering antioxidants. Furthermore, reishi and shiitake mushroom extracts illuminate skin tone by minimizing the appearance of age spots or dark spots that can occur from UV damage.

Finally, after applying your restorative serum, the last step is moisturizing. A moisturizer is the final touch that will hydrate your skin and penetrate it with nutrients that will go below the surface and work to restore your complexion all night long!

As you can see, you don’t need an excessive array of skincare products to nourish your skin. A few simple tools and knowing how to use them during the day and at night will go a long way in keeping your skin radiant and glowing for years to come!
